TestimonialProgressive Multiple Sclerosis
'My
name is Helen, back in April 2000 I woke up to find I had pins and needles
down the lower part of my body, my first reaction was I had slipped a disc,
as I have a history of bad backs. So I booked in to see an Osteopath, I went
to her for 2 months and no good outcomes were proven to have occurred within
that time frame. She suggested I go see a Neurologist, he sent me off to get
a spine MRI. I had to wait 2 weeks to find out my results and even then I
had to call him myself. He told me I had a smudge on the base of my spine,
he said I could book in for a full MRI or it might just go away! I was very
disappointed with his lack of care so I decided not to go back. I
slowly started to get worse especially with the feeling in my legs so I went
on the Internet to see if there was anything with my symptoms. With the
symptoms I had the only thing that kept coming up was M.S. I didn’t take
much notice and I let it go. Three
years later my daughter was listening to the radio one night, back in
January 04 she heard about a treatment called Spinal Rehab, which treated
spinal cord injury, brain injuries and other conditions including Multiple
Sclerosis. She got the number and rang, she was told to go onto the website
and read up about it. What she read was exactly the symptoms I had and maybe
this treatment could help me. I made an appointment to see about my condition. I was immediately referred for a full MRI of my brain and entire spinal cord. In addition I was referred for numerous blood tests looking for the potential of underlying infection that may be associated with my condition. I was devastated when I was diagnosed with progressive MS. I have extensive lesions in my brain and down throughout my spinal cord. In addition, many of the blood tests confirmed the presence of infection. I am overwhelmed but happy that finally somebody has taken the time to listen to me and thoroughly investigate my condition. Even although I have a serious condition I am confident that this will hopefully make a difference!
I
thank my Daughter Rhiannon; and Spinal Rehab for giving my independence back
again.
