'My son Daniel is just 19 years old. He has always been active and enjoyed life to the fullest. Daniel completed his final year at secondary school at Parade College, Bundoora a suburb in Melbourne Australia.

Daniel commenced a 3-year course at TAFE College studying Human Resources. Daniel loves playing football and generally 'hanging out' with family and friends.

During October 2002 Daniel started to complain of headaches and numbness down his right arm. Medical review including a CT Scan showed a brain tumour. He was sent straight to hospital and a diagnosis of 'Glioblastoma' was made confirmed on biopsy. Daniel was operated on and we were informed that they were able to remove a certain portion of the tumour. He was then treated with chemotherapy and we were told that the tumour had shrunk dramatically. His specialist recommend radiotherapy and after 6-weeks of radiation therapy we were confronted with the news that the tumour had not only grown back but in fact had increased dramatically and described as extremely aggressive! We were devastated. Further chemotherapy had NO effect.

We were told that nothing further could be done for Daniel and told to go home!

Desperate to find anything that would give Daniel some relief from his headaches, neck pain and his epileptic seizures; we have come to try Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.

Daniel is receiving 3 hours of HBOT per day and we are attempting to get 3-4 days treatment per week. Already Daniel has felt stronger over the last week with his initial HBOT. His seizure pattern appears to also have changed. He still has seizure patterns but they do not appear to be at the same frequency or intensity and he is in more control during the seizure.

Daniel since commencing Hyperbaric treatment.

After 70-hours of Hyperbaric Oxygenation:

Daniel has made tremendous improvement and continues to improve - thank God!

He has regained his energy, is having less seizures, less headaches, has a stronger appetite and overall is feeling stronger every day.

We would like to thank Dr. Hooper from the Spinal Rehab Group for all his help in making Daniel’s treatment possible. Angela Barbuto (Mother)

The Hyperbaric treatment is NOT covered by the Medicare system. Apparently Medicare will only fund about 6-conditions and Daniel's condition is NOT one of the 'accepted' conditions. This means that regardless of the benefit or hope for a better outcome for Daniel, we have to try to fund the entire treatment process.
