TestimonialProstate Cancer - Radiation Necrosis Bowel
‘My name is Jean Vuillemain, a french name but everyone calls me John. I am 66 years of age. In November 2000 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. When the Urologist told me that I had cancer, it was like a death sentence. I was in a terrible state of shock, I was numb and for several minutes I was speechless when informed of my condition. In March 2001 I had an appointment with a specialist from the Alfred Hospital. After taking all sorts of details he informed that treatment would start in May 2001. Prior to commencing treatment I was required to attend the hospital for stimulation treatment. That's when the Radiation Therapist takes measurements and marks my body to make sure that the radiation is applied in the right place. For me the hardest part was: on the one hand to have an empty rectum and on the other hand having to drink 750ml of water one hour prior to radiation exposure and then having to hold your bladder until after the treatment session. Sometimes I felt like I was going to burst. During this treatment I was advised to consume a low residue diet. More than 1-year after radiation therapy I am suffering from rectal bleeding with every bowel motion. All I want is for the rectal bleeding to stop. I have followed all advise from my treating doctors but nothing has been successful to date. After hearing Dr Hooper talk about Hyperbaric Medicine on a live-talk back on a local radio station, I decided to try it. Extensive blood tests identified as number of underlying infections which were considered to be part of the problem. In addition to Hyperbaric Therapy I receive direct acupuncture needling into my lower spine, vitamin injections and I am also taking Rehab Plus. I also take specific antibiotic medication for the infection. I had my first HBOT sessions on 20-09-02. I have no had about 10-hours of chamber treatment. I have noticed improvement. During the past several weeks their has been virtually no bleeding at all, and I was so happy until I was required to take a corticosteroid nasal spray. Once I ceased the spray again the bleeding stopped. I am very grateful for the opportunity of receiving this valuable treatment. My sincere thanks and appreciation - John Vuillemain.
